[FOSS] Ubuntu October 2008 Release Code Name Announced

The code name for the October 2008 release of Ubuntu has been announced.

If you attended the Ubuntu Release Party last spring, you learned that Ubuntu releases are code named with an adjective and a noun (an animal) and are released every six months.  Thus, last spring, the 07.04 release was Feisty Fawn, 07.10 was Gutsy Gibbon, 08.04 is Hardy Heron, and 08.10 is Intrepid Ibex.

These were preceded by Edgy Eft and Dapper Drake. 

I upgraded both my desktop and my laptop to Gutsy as soon as it was available and the upgrade was very smooth.  

My five year old friend Jason is still testing Feisty Fawn (Edubuntu) and loves it.

Even if you do not use Ubuntu, it is a great way to learn about off-the-wall animals!
